PodCasting

The district owns an Apple PodCasting Server, Apple Laptops, video iPods, and audio iPods. We will be piloting an initiative to produce Web content using podcasting instructional materials. (Free iPod Instructional Material Examples)

PodCasting allows users to demonstrate, pronounce, read, video tape, and present lesson content:

LA: See Shakespeare or Mark Twain Audio Books, Publishing Poems, Creating a Digital Story

If you are interested in PodCasting as an instructional tool, please download and skim through:

2 Types of PodCasting: (1) audio only-MP3, (2) audio/video-MP4. Either one of these formats can be downloaded to a computer for individual or whole classroom use OR downloaded to an iPod for individual use.

To create an audio podcast all you need is a computer, microphone, and Audacity (free download) software to edit and save your file. Lame 3.96.1 encodes your audio so it can be used on the PodCasting Server.

To create a video PodCast all you need is a video source (digital video camera or document camera or Apple Laptop). Once you have created your video, you may want to edit it using a variety of editing software (Movie Maker, Adobe Premier, Photostory or iMovie). Once you have a great product (video lesson) you will need to upload it to the PodCasting Server. These steps are detailed here--QuickStart Manual
