1.  The mission of DECA is to enhance the education of students
with interests in marketing, management, and entrepreneurship.

2.  The Executive Director of National DECA is Dr. Edward L. Davis.

3.  The four points of the DECA Diamond are:
a)  vocational understanding
b)  civic consciousness
c)  social intelligence
d)  leadership development

4.  The Official DECA Emblem is a diamond-shaped design. The design
appears to be moving forward. This represents the idea that DECA is
striving to keep pace as we go into the twenty-first century. The
identifier is "AN ASSOCIATION OF MARKETING STUDENTS".

5.  Blue and gold are the official DECA colors.

6.  Marketing Education identifies a program of instruction offered
through the public schools of Texas with the purpose of:
a)  offering instruction in marketing
b)  aiding in improving the techniques of distribution and customer service
c)  developing an understanding of social, civic, and economic responsibilities of those engaged in distribution in the free enterprise system.

7.  The National DECA tagline is "Developing Future Leaders for Marketing and Management".

8.   DECA was established nationally in 1946.

9.   The National DECA Center is located in Reston, Virginia.

10. The State Advisor for Texas DECA is Lori Hamff, Texas Education Agency, Austin.

11. There are 350 DECA chapters in Texas during the 2000-2001 school year with a total membership of 11,000 members.

12. Texas is located in the Southern Region of National DECA.

13. The DECA Creed is:

I believe in the future which I am planning
for myself in the field of marketing
and management, and in the opportunities
which my vocation offers.

I believe in fulfilling the highest measure
of service to my vocation, my fellow beings,

14. DECA offers a well-rounded "competitive events program" -- not "contests".

15. At the local level, DECA is referred to as a "chapter" -- not a "club".

16. Persons belonging to a DECA chapter are "members" -- not "DECA students".

17. National DECA is made up of state and territorial "associations" -- state associations are made up of local chapters.

18. Scholarships available to deserving DECA members in Texas include:
