English II Pre-AP Summer reading requirements:
1. Choose ONE of these three books to read over your summer vacation:
Night by Elie Wiesel
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
2. Choose ONE of these projects to complete that demonstrates your understanding of the book you’ve read. This will be due when you return to school in August.
1. Tell the story in the form of a children’s book. Please include appropriate material and illustrations.
2. Pick an important scene from the story and dramatize it in the form of a script one would use if directing a play. You must have relevant dialogue and stage directions.
3. Create a map of the setting, neighborhood, and/or environment of the book. For every object you include, you must have textual references to justify your object placement.
4. Make a timeline documenting the series of events that occur in the selection.
Be prepared to participate in class discussions and activities, including tests, on these works during the first weeks of school. During the year, you will be expected to complete outside reading, keep up with assignments, participate in classroom discussions, and complete outside research and writing projects. I look forward to having you in my classroom next year. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding this class or if you have questions about the reading. Additional information will be given at the beginning of the school year regarding rules, supplies, expectations, and grading scales
