Suggested Student Roles in the Classroom |
Each
student's talent(s) and interest(s) may be promoted and utilized through the classic
collaborative classroom roles.
- To record group ideas, plans, research data,
content.
- Document and maintain records (SCANS),
- produce word processing documents or
- maintain charts or data collection records.
Observer -- Human Resource Manager
- To monitor group participation
- Manages time (SCANS), scheduling, phases,
benchmarks
- To chair discussion and make sure everyone has
a turn
- Assures data collection is accurate and
relevant.
Materials Resource Manager
- To distribute materials for entire group
- The student allowed to collect information and
distribute supplies
- The only group member who is allowed to address
questions to the facilitator
- Researcher -- collects data online or offline
for group activities
- Manages all group supplies, journals,
notebooks, manipulatives (SCANS).
Encourager -- Team Manager
- Reinforces members' contributions
- Negotiates, praises, awards, and provides a
positive learning environment
- Manages Teamwork (SCANS)
- Makes sure everyone understands.
Presenter -- Communications Manager
- Is responsible for making presentation to group
or groups using appropriate foundational skills and communication skills
- Presents information (oral, visual,
kinesthetic, multimedia presentation, video, poem, song, play) in a way so that those
outside the group will understand (SCANS)
- Uses multiple intelligences and talents of the
group to synthesize project presentation
- Delivers presentation with diverse learners in
mind.
