 | Remove batteries from all technology handheld units
such as calculators & remote controls when not in use (especially during summer
months) |
 | Separate all batteries from touching each other or
metal (wrap in plastic wrap or placed cross-wise in a non-metal
container -- the kind chocolate chip cookies come in is ideal) |
 | Use a label and place the date on a set of batteries |
 | Store batteries in a cool place
-- a refrigerator is ideal but cover to keep
condensation off the batteries. |
 | Check for acid leakage before using batteries again |

Here is an Aver Key remote
after batteries were left in over the summer. The leakage
is obvious and the remote is useless. |
