Bypassing Filter for Internet Access
READ COMPLETELY & CAREFULLY
Your Privileges: If you are a teacher, staff member, or administrator, you may have been given permission to bypass the Arp School District's Internet Filter. To bypass, simply click on the second bullet in the Stop or Warning page: "View this site now". You will be asked for a username and password. Type in your network username and password. This will allow you to bypass the filter for the amount of time you select. You may bypass the filter for a student, IF YOU MONITOR them carefully.
Only a few districts in Texas allow faculty members personal use of their Infrastructure, but it has been our policy to allow it in moderation. We understand that some personal business may need to be conducted during the school day. However, this network is dedicated to the education of Arp students and we want to make sure they are getting your primary attention and absolute best effort. Personal Internet use should be limited to before and after school and perhaps briefly during a conference period.
Every time you bypass the filter, you completely open the Internet up for access to any site. If you bypass for students you MUST monitor their use. When you bypass the Internet filter, you ALSO open up your computer to all kinds of Spyware, Adware, and Malware. Starting in the Fall of 2010, you will be required to attend an inservice on managing adware and malware. You will also be required to manage anti-spyware software on your computer in order to gain access to the bypass filter feature.
Anytime you are browsing, surfing, or researching
the net, it is important for you to keep your POPUP stopper ON. Please RESTRICT the number of times you bypass the filter to incidences which are NECESSARY....otherwise reserve your "surfing" or outside email activities to your own home.Every time you bypass the filter, the Network Administrator is notified as to when you bypassed AND where you have gone. If you spend too much time on sites that are considered personal or of a nature outside the realm of your TEKS, please be aware that a report on all your activities can be sent to your immediate supervisor. If you bypass the filter and inadvertently view an inappropriate site, you need to email the Network Administrator immediately and explain why this was done. If an inappropriate site is opened, a report will be sent to your immediate supervisor. The Arp ISD network is funded partially by the state and partially by the federal government. Therefore, the regulations governing its use are both state and federal regulations.
PLEASE BE ADVISED: If you misuse your network privileges, it may not only result in a reprimand from your supervisor, but may also result in loss of certification and/or prosecution by the federal government.

Your Request: If you find a site that is of educational benefit AND it does not allow access to otherwise "band" content, then you may do one of the following to access a site:
|
| If you are a student, have your teacher email me concerning the educational need to view the site. |
|
| If you ARE a teacher and you need to use a site more than just occasionally, please "Submit a site review request". |
