Digital Camera QuickStart
  Things to do:

CARRYING CAMERA

bulletIf carrying camera for any significant distance (down the hall, to a game) always carry camera in the bag...not by its strap!

CAMERA LENS

bulletAlways cover the lens when the camera is not in use.
bulletOnly clean the lens with lens paper....if you don't have any lens paper....do not clean the lens. If you can't clean the lens, then don't get it dirty...don't EVER touch the lens.

BATTERY

bulletCharge the battery when camera is not in use. When camera is not in use, do not leave the battery in the camera.
bulletThe battery will last about 2 hours during continuous use.
bulletUsing the LCD screen will deplete the battery faster.
bulletViewing pictures over and over will deplete the battery
bulletDeleting pictures uses the battery.
bulletFlash pictures take up more battery.
bulletThe battery will discharge if the battery is set with the copper leads near metal. Lay the battery with the copper leads facing up to prevent this from happening.

MEMORY CARD

bulletThe 16 MB memory card will take about 4 pictures using the highest setting for picture size. These pictures are huge and are not suitable for sharing in email, in PowerPoint or for the Web.
bulletSet your picture size to the LOWEST (smallest) picture setting .3 MB and this will allow you to capture about 32 pictures.
bulletLeave the memory card in the camera unless you are replacing it with another memory card. Memory cards should also be stored like batteries-in plastic to prevent them from discharging.
bulletDO NOT remove or insert a memory card while the camera is on. Many cameras have fixed this issue by having you open the battery compartment to insert the memory card. This is to prevent you from removal or insertion while the camera is on.

SOFTWARE

bulletYou will need to load the camera software on your computer to retrieve pictures, unless you have a multipurpose card reader.
bulletEach digital camera uses its own software and USB driver. Although some XP machines will recognize your camera, you will not get full capabilities without the camera software. DO NOT LOSE this software.
