Applications to Avoid Many times while "surfing" on the Net, boxes will pop up offering you all kinds of "cute" little cursers, plug-ins, desktop managers, modifiers, and screen savers. A responsible educated surfer should avoid MOST of these temptations as they can cause serious problems to your applications and networking capabilities.
The following are examples of "freebies" from the
Net that you should avoid since fulfilling educational
objectives is the
reason our district owns technology:
When we get complaints that computers aren't working properly....we find a large number of the computers have had these programs downloaded from the Internet. These programs interfere with the explorer file system that runs the applications on your computer. It is against the Arp AUP for you to download these types of programs...and it is unfortunate that we then have to take time to undo what was not suppose to be on the machine in the first place. The AUP states that no one is allowed to download programs from the Internet unless given permission by their technology coordinator. It should be unnecessary for us to pass around new lists of what not to download. |
