Arp High School

Career Preparedness and Distinguished Academic Programs

The course offerings at Arp High School are designed to help students gain maximum experience, skills, and knowledge for preparation in career and higher education opportunities.

We have worked closely with Tyler Junior College to create Six Year Plans for students who are interested in Business, Technology, or Science. A Six Year Plan allows a student to plan for four years of meaningful high school electives and course work and two years of college work toward a career, certification or degree program.

The Career Preparedness Program Booklet is available to all parents and students upon request. It outlines Arp High School's career development policies. You will find a sample Six Year Plan in the back of this booklet. Students interested in adding skills in technology, business, computer science, or accounting may gain dual credit (high school credit and college credit) from the courses articulated with any area junior college.

We encourage students who are interested in the Distinguished Academic Program (DAP) to avail themselves of these articulated courses in order to qualify for the DAP seal on their transcript. In the Appendix (page 30) of this booklet you will find the Texas Education Agencies detailed requirements for the DAP.

Other resources are available to students who are interested in making knowledgeable decisions about their future. Please feel free to contact your campus counselor or administrator for more details.
