JOB TITLE:  Instructional Technology Specialist  WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Technology Director and Principal    PAY GRADE:  1  
DEPT./SCHOOL: Campus   DAYS WORKED: 200  

 

  PRIMARY PURPOSE:

            To provide training to staff, and to facilitate the effective use of technology in instructional programs at the campus level. Provide technical support in the use of hardware and software.

QUALIFICATIONS:

            Education:

·        Bachelor’s degree

·    Valid Texas teaching certificate 

Master Teacher on TIER 3 of  District Teacher Competency Rubric

Special Knowledge / Skills:

·        Strong instructional background

·        Demonstrated proficiency with  integrating project-based curriculum using computer hardware and software applications

·        Ability to develop and deliver technology training to adult learners

·        Demonstrate a working knowledge of curriculum and technology used in instructional settings

·        Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

            Experience:

·        Five years teaching experience using technology with cooperative learning and project-based curriculum

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 

1.         Provide campus-level staff development on technology issues including use of transparent technologies,  computer hardware and software applications; maintenance; general troubleshooting; previewing, evaluating, and selecting software; etc.

2.         Design individual instructional modules, instructional materials, and training aides.

3.         Assess participant acquisition of skills using a variety of evaluation procedures including needs assessments, rubrics, and the proficiencies developed by the school district.

4.         Share effective technical and instructional strategies with teachers for the effective use of technology in the classroom, including planning, classroom management, and assessment.

5.                  Act as a liaison with district technology department personnel.

6.                  Participate in the development of the Proficiency Phases, and assess individuals on a specific campus or site.

7.                  Assist in the development of electronic portfolios for both teachers and students

8.                  Disseminate information to staff members about all of the training opportunities and web-based instructional opportunities.

 9.                  Assist in the recognition of campus participants who achieve specific levels of proficiency.

10.              Assist in the organizing participants for the annual Technology Open house.

11.              Assist the technology department in the maintenance of an up-to-date hardware and software inventory for your campus.

 12.              Showcase “promising practices” or excellent lesson activities on the district or Arp web sie for others to access.
