The starting
points are shown in the 2002-03 baseline year. The state has flexibility in whether we
“stair step” up to each required increase or whether we require large
increases at the specified year. In
the state’s definition for AYP, we used a combination. In the early years (where the passing rate
on the TAKS is also increasing) schools have multiple years to meet the required
increase. Further into the timeline,
there is required improvement each year.
