ARP INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT

SPECIAL BOARD MEETING

AUGUST 25, 2009    7:00 p.m.      FOLLOWING PUBLIC HEARING

ARP HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARY

 

The Board of Trustees for the Arp Independent School District met in Special Session on August 25, 2009 in the Arp High School Library at 7:00 p.m., following the Public Hearing, with the members present as listed:

           

Dennis Ford – President

Patty Campbell – Secretary

Eltara Tyiska – Trustee

Heath Grammier – Trustee

Ernie Maddox – Trustee

 

 

 

Others present:  Toney Lowery-Superintendent of Schools, Laurice Marshall-Business Manager, and Yolanda Bruney- Superintendent’s Secretary.

 

I.                   CALL TO ORDER:  Mr. Ford, Board President, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

 

II.                INVOCATION:  Given by Heath Grammier.

 

III.             FIRST ORDER OF BUSINESS:  Roll Call:  Certification that “the provisions of The Open Meetings Act, Section 551.001 et.seq. of the Texas Government Code have been complied with in connection with public notice of this meeting and a quorum is present.”

 

IV.              OPEN FORUM:  None.

 

V.                 ACTION ITEMS:

5.1           Consider approving the adoption of the 2009-2010 Arp I.S.D. Budget.  Patty Campbell made the motion to adopt the 2009-2010 Budget for General Operating, Debt Service and Food Service funds as presented.  Eltara Tyiska seconded the motion. Motion carried 5-0.

5.2           Consider approving tax rate for 2009-2010 for Arp I.S.D.  Eltara Tyiska made the motion to approve the tax rate for Arp I.S.D as presented.  $1.0400 for the purpose of maintenance and operation, $0.1877 for the payment of principal and interest on approved dept, for a Total Tax Rate of $1.2277 per $100 valuation on taxable properties within the Arp Independent School District for tax year 2009.  Heath Grammier seconded the motion. Motion carried 5-0. (see attachment)

5.3           Consider Budget Amendments:  Heath Grammier made the motion t approve the 2008-2009 Budget Amendments as presented (see attachment) Patty Campbell seconded the motion. Motion carried 5-0.

VI.              INFORMATION ITEMS:  Mr. Lowery stated that all our athletes and coaches were off to a good start in Volleyball, both J.V. and varsity.

 

VII.           BOARD COMMENTS:  None.

 

VIII.        EXECUTIVE SESSION:  None.

 

IX.              ADJOURNMENT:  There being no further business, Mr. Ford called for a motion to adjourn.  Heath Grammier made the motion to adjourn. Eltara Tyiska seconded. Meeting adjourned at 7:05 p.m.
