SPECIAL BOARD MEETING

MAY 25, 2007

ARP HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARY

The Board of Trustees for the Arp Independent School District met in Special Session on May 25, 2007 in the Arp High School Library at 8:30 am with the following members present:

Others present:  Mr. Toney Lowery- Superintendent of Schools, Ms. Tammie Gillespie-Business Manager, Kyle Waldron-Maintenance Supervisor, Mrs. Johna Huse-Elementary School Principal, Mr. Dwight Thomas-Junior High School Principal, Dr. Fred Zachary-High School Principal, Coach Dale Irwin-Athletic Director, Mrs. Lynn Poffinbarger, Mrs. Judy Zachary, and Mrs. Yolanda Bruney-Administrative Secretary.

I.          CALL TO ORDER:  Mr. Ford, Board President, called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.

II.        INVOCATION:  Given by Mr. Tyiska.

III.       FIRST ORDER OF BUSINESS:  Mr. Ford, Board President certified “the provisions of The Open Meetings Act, Section 551.001 et.seq. of the Texas Government Code have been complied with in connection with public notice of the meeting and a quorum is present.”

IV.       OPEN FORUM:  None

V.        ACTION ITEMS:

5.1       Administer Oath of Office to Trustee Earnest W. Stroupe, Place 7  Yolanda Bruney administered Oath of Office to Earnest W. Stroupe.

5.2       Consider approving pay ranges for clerical, administrative, and manual trades.  Dr. Stroupe made the motion to approve the pay ranges for clerical, administrative, and manual trades as presented by Tammie Gillespie, Business Manager.  Mrs. Campbell seconded the motion. Motion carried 7-0.

VI.       INFORMATION ITEMS:

            Mr. Thomas commended the Junior High School teachers and students for their

success in U.I.L. Academics.

VII.     BOARD COMMENTS:  None

VIII.    EXECUTIVE SESSION:  Texas Government Code Section 551.074   The Board of Trustees entered into executive session at 8:32 a.m. and returned at 8:58 a.m.

8.1       Personnel – Resignations:  Mr. Lacy made the motion to accept the resignations of: Samantha Sanford, Dianne West, and Justin Hunley.  Dr. Williams seconded the motion. Motion carried 7-0.

8.2       Personnel – Recommendations: 

·        Dr. Williams made the motion to accept the Elementary faculty recommendations of  Kara Partin, Gina Campos, Amy Chaddick, and Allyson Dawson at a salary of State Base plus local enrichment subject to assignment.  Dr. Stroupe seconded the motion. Motion carried 7-0.

·        Dr. Stroupe made the motion to accept the Junior High faculty recommendations as presented at a salary of State Base plus local enrichment subject to assignment. Mr. Lacy seconded the motion. Motion carried 7-0.    Junior High recommendations presented: Janice McGee, Dixi Russell, Vicki Russell, Kim Graham, Wendi McCann, Michelle Daniels, Laura Dacus, Tiffany Taylor, Glenna Marshall, Theresa Jones, Jarvie Stroupe, Diane Smith, Cathy Scroggins, Dayna Crenshaw, Nick Hardy and John Standridge.

·        Mrs. Campbell made the motion to accept the High School faculty recommendations as presented on Joel Herrington, Barre Gonzalez and Susan Robbins at a salary of State Base plus local enrichment subject to assignment.  Dr. Williams seconded the motion. Motion carried 7-0.

·        Mrs. Campbell made the motion to accept the recommendation of Arethra Wofford, less the signing bonus, at a salary of State Base plus local enrichment subject to assignment. Mr. Tyiska seconded the motion. Motion carried 7-0.

IX.       ADJOURNMENT:

9.1       Mrs. Campbell made the motion to adjourn.  Mr. Lacy seconded the motion. Motion carried 7-0.  Meeting adjourned at 9:25 a.m.
