Overview:

š    Plan, implement, and evaluate staff development with teachers & principals for instructional strategies, learning objectives, and assessment techniques.

š    Apply research and district studies to improve the content, sequence, and outcomes of the teaching-learning process.

š    Work with appropriate staff to develop, maintain, and revise curriculum documents based on systematic review and analysis.

š    Involve instructional staff in evaluating and selecting instructional materials to meet student learning needs.

š    Facilitate the use of technology in the teaching-learning process.

š    Plan the necessary time, resources, and materials to support accomplishment of district educational goals

š    Ensure that the district goals and objectives are developed using a collaborative process and problem-solving technique when appropriate.

š    Actively support the efforts of others to achieve district goals and objectives and the campus performance objectives

š    Obtain and use evaluation findings, including student achievement data to examine curriculum/instructional program effectiveness.

š    Secure consultants, specialists, and other community resources for principals and supervised instructional staff to assist in attaining objectives.

š    Provide effective staff development activities by using the mission of the district, program evaluation outcomes, and input from teachers and others.

š    Monitor teaching practices and help principals with professional growth plans when appropriate.

š    Make sound recommendations relative to personnel placement, transfer, retention, and dismissal

š    Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local board policy in the area of curriculum and instruction.

š    Ensure the programs are cost effective and funds are managed prudently

š    Compile budgets and cost estimates based upon documented program needs.

š    Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.

š    Demonstrate support for the district’s student management policies and expected student behavior related to instructional programs.

š    Help identify areas of need and implement new strategies for improving staff student management.

š    Disseminate new information to other professionals

š    Develop needed professional skills appropriate to job assignments

š    Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible and serve as a role model for all district staff.

š    Articulate the district’s mission, instructional philosophy, and curriculum implementation strategies to the community and solicit their support in realizing the mission.

š    Demonstrate awareness of district-community needs and initiate activities to meet those identified needs.

š    Demonstrate the use of appropriate and effective techniques for community and parent involvement.

 

Specific Duties:

š    Supply Texas Education Agency with documents for programs, waivers, reports, and evaluations

š    Supply the Federal Government with documents for programs, reports, and evaluations

š    Create policies for district implementation in curriculum, inservice, technology, and discipline management

š    Assist the district in creation of the school calendar, master schedules, assessment calendars, and inservice calendars

š    Create the inservice agendas and maintain documentation for staff development according to Senate Bill 1.

š    Provide public access to district course description documents and syllabi for all district courses

š    Develop inservice agendas & rubrics for certification of all training done in the district

š    Train teacher in technology & curriculum integration techniques

š    Assist the district in the selection and implementation of curriculum software

š    Supply each teacher with policies and procedures manuals and TEKS

š    Develop District Improvement Plan with District committee

š    Arrange Articulation Agreements of high school courses with colleges and universities for dual credit

š    Manage the District Web site with curriculum resources

š    Actively write grants to secure funding for district curriculum projects

š    Work with University of Texas at Tyler on pre-service teacher requirements

š    Schedule pre-service teachers into Arp ISD classrooms for student teaching experiences

š    Assist GT, AP, and Eisenhower teachers to gain staff development through district agreements

š    Develop coherent sequence of courses for the K-12 curriculum

š    Assist students in attending state and national conferences for the development of outstanding skills and a high district profile
