If you are in the Math Alignment Project please keep referring to these links
Facilitator: Jane Silvey jsilvey@esc7.net The following information details the Region 7 Math Alignment Process. The attached chart shows groups, locations, dates, times, and session numbers for 06-07 mathematics alignment. Participating districts need to create the math alignment team to attend each alignment session. The team should consist of one teacher per grade including K to 8 and Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, and Precal. Some districts will not have separate teachers for each high school course; alignment priority will be given to the algebra and geometry courses. Step 1 Takes a total of 2 days (teachers will be out of class for 1 day only)
· Vertical alignment (scope) requires lining up the student expectations from 12th to K and deeply define or clarify exactly what each student expectation means. Step 2 Requires 2 days for the Math Alignment Process
· Organizing the aligned student expectations into “bundles” ……into rational coherent “units” or “strands” of instruction including time lines (by three weeks or by a discrete number of days) Step 3 - Part 1 and Part 2 Requires 2 days for each semester – total of 4 days · Requires K – Precal for each of the 4 days · Breaking down the "big bundles" from step 2 into more detailed, weekly timelines. Other Requirements: · Participating teachers must attend 1 day of Dr. Crain’s Boot Camp o offered June 9 and June 16, repeated in the fall o there is no charge to districts participating in the alignment process o if teachers have already attended ILD or Boot Camp, they don’t need to repeat · Two day ILD for Teachers o Offered July 10 &11, July 12 &13, July 17 &18, repeated in the fall o No fee for districts that belong to Professional Development Cooperative, $75 per day per teacher for districts that aren’t members. o There are no additional fees for math.
