PBMAS PLAN 2005-06

Performance-based Monitoring Analysis System (PBMAS) is a system created to help districts respond to Special Program Citations.

The district has several citations for special education this year. In order to solve the issues we will:

(1)  Insure that children are placed in the least restrictive environment with the maximum regular education time possible for individual student success.

(2)  Insure that the number of SPED African American Representations actually qualify and define procedures to reduce the number of inappropriate referrals and placement.

(3)  Reduce the number of SPED students attending ISS (SAC) by utilizing new discipline management techniques.

The district has created a flowchart for citations (1) and (2). At:  http://www.arp.sprnet.org/curric/ATRISK/SpecialEd/flowchart.htm

Principals will assist in citation (3) by using the The Discipline Management book (Discipline without Stress, Punishment, or Rewards by Dr. Marvin Marshall) that was purchased for all teachers on all campuses. This book should also be read by the campus principal and counselors so that these procedures are used instead of SAC. Procedures included in this book are student accountability, contracts, and behavior plans.
