Teacher Contract for TV / VCR

I, the undersigned, do contract for Audio/Visual Equipment for my classroom under the
following conditions:
instruction of the TEKS only
Use of equipment will be documented in my lesson plans using TEKS & TAKS objectives
Equipment will be maintained properly using surge protection and appropriate safety
precautions. (Secure TV with a strap or set it where it cannot fall on a child.)
Use of the equipment will be monitored by the administration
Under no circumstances is this equipment to be used to compete with the entertainment
industry (Disney, Hollywood, etc.).
Hollywood
Movies are NOT to be shown for ANY reason, unless you have obtained the
owner's permission (example: October Skies)
All instructional (non-Hollywood Movies) videos, programs, and visuals should be
utilized with periodic
discussions,
guided questions to be filled out during viewing, questioning techniques,
"what if" scenarios,
or some other mode of instruction while
not
violating copyright
laws.
Equipment that is not used accordingly will be removed from the room and the teacher
will receive a letter of reprimand in his/her personnel folder.
Overview of District Technology Goals: Arp has in place an Acceptable Use
Policy for technology. This policy has been approved
by the board and will be upheld by all district employees. It can be found at:

- Faculty will use appropriate instructional strategies when implementing technology in
the classroom.
- Documentation of technology integration will be maintained by the faculty member
afforded technology in the classroom. Documentation will include instructional integration
techniques, assessment strategies, all hardware & software updates, and maintenance
procedures. Any modifications to a computer system must be approved by a campus technology
coordinator.
- Faculty/staff members will be
required to maintain ethical and copyright standards in
accordance with federal and state laws. No software will be loaded on a machine that has
not been approved by a campus technology coordinator. Computer maintenance policies will
be followed.

No video
will be played in a classroom for pure entertainment value.
Employees will not jeopardize
the district by competing with the entertainment industry. All
instructional videos, and
presentations will be shown using instructional strategies, questioning techniques,
"what if" scenarios, or for some simulation purpose as stated in the lesson
plan.
- All technology will be utilized for educational purposes (i.e. games or videos without
educational objectives are not permitted at anytime and may result in the loss of
privileges to technology.) If there will not be an independent or alternative assessment
over software or video content, it is probably not appropriate for the educational
environment.
- Faculty will be responsible for making sure that classroom substitute teachers are
advised that computers & videos will not be utilized by students unless specific
written instructions have been left by the classroom teacher on proper/educational use of
technology for a specific class period.
- Failure to document use or failure to use technology for ethical and educational
purposes will result in the reassignment or relocation of technology (microscopes,
calculators, computers, video equipment, etc.) and a reprimand in the personnel folder
or dismissal.
