Seven Arp High School seniors participated in the national observance of Groundhog Job Shadow Day, February 2.

The event was organized locally by the Tyler Chamber of Commerce's "School-to-Work" Committee and the School-to-Careers Partnership which enabled students to shadow a workplace mentor as he or she goes through normal day on the job. The experience provided an up-close look at how the skills learned in school are put into action in the workplace.

Amber Lewis said, "My experience was so interesting that I stayed past 5 p.m. watching a baseball game at Mike Carter Field with my mentor," a professional baseball scout.

The seniors were: Brandy Brewster (Economic Development Council, Tyler Chamber of Commerce); Candace Sheffield and Jennifer Stuth (Mother Frances Hospital); Amber Lewis (Mike Carter Field); Ryan Weaver (Coca-Cola Bottling Company); Tiffany Wade (University of Texas Health Center); and Peter Riley (Assistant Superintendent, Tyler Independent School District)
