Technology Tools Over Break

  1. Lock up your laptops over short breaks or send them to the Studio.

  2. Do NOT turn off computer over breaks, unless given specific instructions to do so.  Please LOCK all your computers using YOUR ACCOUNT NAME. We take inventory over the breaks using your account name.

  3. Maintenance folks ARE NOT to unhook computers or move computers without specific instructions from the Technology Department.  This has been in district policy for about 8 years.  It has been approved by the board.

  4. Turn OFF your monitors and printers ONLY.  If you do not know how to do this correctly, please email us and we will take care of it. The All-in-one computers need to have their screen savers set to "blank". This turns off the screen but not the computer.

  5. Flat Screen monitors should be turned off during holidays.

  6. Printers should be turned off over holidays.

  7. Do NOT leave laptops, video projectors, digital cameras, document cameras, Zires or other portable technology (E-Instruction stations, projectors, VCRs) in your rooms over breaks!  For short breaks you can lock them up. For Summer Break all smaller technologies will be turned  into the Studio.  All of these types of technologies have been stolen or broken in the past. Turning them in allows us to clean them and check for maintenance issues.

SUMMER BREAKS: Please read 5 items carefully.

  1. The Technology Team will come by and pick up remotes, calculators, document cameras, digital cameras, wireless technology tools, E-Instruction Stations, and any carts with tech tools. YOU MAY check out any technology tool, remote, etc. if you plan on using them during the summer, but you will need to sign a release form when the Tech Team comes by next week.

  2. Calculators need to be returned to the Studio for Summer breaks.  All batteries need to be removed from these types of devices. Click here to see how to store correctly.

  3. Computers MUST remain on the network during summer breaks.  They should NOT be turned off.  They receive updates and maintenance over these breaks remotely. They are NOT to be moved by teachers or any one other than a technology staff person during the summer. If you need to save your favorites or clean off your desktop, do so this week! See QuickStarts on how to accomplish this.

  4. Do Turn off the following:  projectors, monitors (unless it is an all-in-one), printers, scanners, etc.

  5. If you have a TV / VCR/ DVD on a cart, please lock it up on your campus. We will not be responsible to any loss of those items.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. joy@arpisd.org
