General Description: High School Special Education Department provides an outstanding program for high school students with learning, emotional and/or physical impairments. Services are available for students in grades 9 through 12 and /or age 21.  The Special Education Department provides instruction in Applied Math 1-4, Communications 1-4, Applied Science 1-4, and Community Citizenship 1-4.  Content Mastery and Life Skills classes are also available through Special Education.  All instruction is TEKS correlated with TAKS, SDAA and CLASS objectives.

·        TAKS-The ARD committee determines that certain students with special needs will take all or parts of the TAKS test with or without accommodations.

·        SDAA II - The ARD committee determines that certain students with special needs performing below their grade level will take the SDAA II for Reading, ELA and Math.

·        LDAA-The ARD Committee determines that certain students with special handicapping conditions which would prevent them from taking the TAKS or SDAA II will be eligible to take the LDAA (Locally Developed Alternate Assessment).
